FERC announced that its staff has informed G2 LNG LLC’s counsel that it was terminating the pre-filing environmental review process for G2 LNG’s proposed liquefaction and LNG export project.
The letter states, among other things, that G2 LNG has not filed the draft resource reports “needed for staff to continue the environmental review of the project,” and “has not engaged any regulatory authorities or potentially affected stakeholders in the last 16 months, which is one of the main intended purposes of the pre-filing process.”
Backgrounds:
On 17 Oct. 2015, G2 LNG announced that it plans to build an $11 billion LNG export facility in Cameron Parish that will be able to export 15.4 MMT/Y of LNG.
The project on the Calcasieu River Ship Channel will be the fourth-largest capital investment in Louisiana history, according to G2 LNG. “The project is expected to support 3,500 construction jobs and create more than 250 permanent jobs, averaging over $85,000 per year.”
On 10 Dec. 2015, G2 LNG announced that it has filed a letter requesting that FERC initiate the pre-filing environmental review process for its proposed LNG export facility.
On 28 Dec. 2015, FERC issued a letter granting G2 LNG’s request for initiation of pre-filing environmental review procedures for its proposed LNG export project as it states that G2 intends to file a formal application for the project in July 2016.
