New Fortress Energy (NFE) has achieved first LNG for its initial Fast LNG facility located offshore Altamira, Mexico.
New Fortress Energy (NFE) has achieved first LNG for its initial Fast LNG facility located offshore Altamira, Mexico.
NFE has remarked that its proprietary Fast LNG “pairing the latest advancements in modular liquefaction technology with jack up rigs or similar offshore infrastructure to enable a faster deployment schedule than traditional liquefaction facilities.”

The 155,000-CM NFE Penguin LNG ship is expected to load the first commissioning cargo of the Altamira FLNG facility which is also the Mexican maiden LNG export shipment.
The ship destination would be NFE-operates floating LNG imports facility (FSRU) in Puerto Rico as USA Customs has already issued a ruling confirming that the transportation of LNG produced at the Altamira FLNG facility by non-US registered vessels “would not violate the Jones Act”, Global LNG Info’s Analytics had reported earlier.

According to the Global LNG Database®, the NFE’s Fast LNG solution includes a permanently moored FSU which will serve as an LNG storagefacility alongside the floating liquefaction infrastructure, which can be deployed anywhere there is abundant and stranded naturalgas resource.

NFE has selected Fluor Corporation, Chart Industries, Inc. and Baker Hughes as the main EPC contractors for the Fast LNG units, each would have 1.4 MMT/Y LNG export capacity.
