Chiyoda - CB&I JV has reached an agreement with Golden Pass LNG on the amendment of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract and associated commercial terms for the completion of the full scope for the under-construction project’s first train.

The project’s EPC contractor Chiyoda has also remarked that it will continue engagements on subsequently amending the contract for the completion of the project’s second and third trains.

Earlier, Global LNG Info Analytics had projected that the project's cost would be increased by more than $2.6 billion from the original estimate of $11 billion.

Last month, the US FERC granted a 3-year construction reprieve to the Golden Pass LNG project as it will now have until 30 November 2029 to place the facility into service. The previous approval expires in November 2026.

Golden Pass LNG has already delayed the start-up of its 18 MMT/Y project to the end of next year after lead contractor Zachry declared bankruptcy and withdrew from the project.
