Fluor has announced completion of the final weld on the first train at the LNG Canada project, in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada.
“The final weld took 48 hours of continuous work from teams of welders working in shifts. More than 380 pipe welders have worked on the project since construction began in 2018.”

JGC-Fluor JV is undertaking EPC of the LNG Canada, including engineering, procurement, fabrication and delivery of modules, as well as construction of the project's infrastructure and utilities, marine structures and LNG storage tank.
In Jul. 2023, Flour announced the arrival of the last module of the LNG Canada project by ship from its fabrication yard in China.

According to the Global LNG Database®, LNG Canada is in the final stage of commencing its project’s start-up phase as the TC Energy-operated Coastal GasLink (CGL) pipeline which connects gas fields in northwestern British Columbia with the project in Kitimat is completed.

The 14 MMT/Y LNG Canada project’s partners are Shell 40%, PETRONAS 25%, PetroChina 15%, Mitsubishi 15%, and Kogas 5%. They took a positive final investment decision (FID) on the project in October 2018.

LNG Canada is also weighing whether to build a second phase to double annual capacity to 28 MMT; however it will consider “affordability”, “competitiveness” and “market situation” before taking the final decision on the expansion plan.
